ACSO Celebrates National Arts and Humanities Month

ACSO joins thousands of arts organizations and communities across the nation to celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month throughout October. National Arts and Humanities Month is coordinated by Americans for the Arts, the national organization working to empower communities with the resources and support necessary to provide access to all of the arts for all of the people. This month-long celebration grew out of National Arts Week, which was started in 1985 by the National Endowment for the Arts and Americans for the Arts.

To celebrate, ACSO is highlighting October’s California Concert Calendar that includes over 50 concerts, including many season openers! “We encourage all of our members to participate and designate their October programs in the name of Arts and Humanities Month,” said Mitch Menchaca, ACSO executive director. “Arts and Humanities Month has become the country’s largest annual collective celebration of the arts and humanities and we are excited to showcase California's classical music community.”

“The arts and humanities play an important role in our lives and the vitality of our communities,” said Robert L. Lynch, president, and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “The arts allow us to explore ideas, express emotions and better appreciate cultures from around the world. National Arts and Humanities Month is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the positive impact that the arts bring to our schools and communities.”
