Take A Stand

The 2017 Take a Stand Symposium will bring together leaders, teachers, researchers, and key stakeholders from around the world with a vested interest in the El Sistema movement and progressive practices in music education. Coinciding with the tenth anniversary of YOLA and fifth anniversary of the Masters of Arts in Teaching in Music degree program, participants will address and reflect on past, present, and future issues facing the field. Key focal areas will include teaching & learning, research & evaluation, and excellence & inclusion. Participants will also have the unique opportunity to interact with student National Take a Stand Festival participants, and attend their culminating performance led by Gustavo Dudamel at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The Take a Stand Symposium is coordinated by the Education Department of the LA Phil. The final schedule is forthcoming, so please check back for a more detailed agenda.
