The Kris Sinclair Leadership Award is given to an ACSO member organization that demonstrates impactful leadership initiatives, which advance the goals of the Organization, including, but not limited to, finance, governance, staff development, audience development, education, and community engagement.
As part of the application, the organization will participate in a self-reflection process outlining its: current strengths; areas needing improvement; and recent measurable successes applicable to the Kris Sinclair Leadership Award. Additionally, the applying organization must demonstrate how the cash prize from Kris Sinclair Leadership Award will be used to further advance the goals of the organization.
The award will be presented at the annual ACSO conference at which the recipient’s Leadership must be present. The winning organization will receive a cash award of $5,000 which advance the goals of the organization as stipulated in its submitted application.
Applicants and the winning organization may also be eligible for further support from the ACSO through the Consulting Services Program currently supported by the Clarence E. Heller Charitable Foundation.
This award is made possible by the Kris Sinclair Fund for Professional Development that consists of contributions intentionally made in Kris Sinclair’s name to support professional development and technical assistance offered by the Association of California Symphony Orchestras (ACSO). Sinclair was the Executive Director of the Association for 31 years and provided members with technical assistance, professional development opportunities, and consultation on a variety of orchestra management topics.
Applicants must be a current ACSO organizational member at the date of the application and must remain a member in good standing throughout the award period.
The award winning Organization must be present at the 2017 Annual Conference to receive their award, no exceptions.
Through an online application, applicant organizations must demonstrate how they have achieved recent, measurable successes applicable to the Kris Sinclair Leadership Award. Additionally, the applying Organization must demonstrate how the award funds from Kris Sinclair Leadership Award will be used to further advance the goals of the Organization. Phone interviews with finalists might be requested.
Applicant organizations will be reviewed on the quality and completeness of their application in addition to a thoroughly compelling case for the organization’s use of the award funds.
The winning organization may be called on to provide future conference or webinar reports and/or testimonials on the impact from its Kris Sinclair Leadership Award.
The deadline to apply in April 15, 2017. The Kris Sinclair Leadership Award Committee will review applications as they are received and will determine the award winner by June 1, 2017.
