HUTCHINS CONSORT
The Hutchins Consort will be featured performers at the first international conference of the New Violin Family Association in Ithaca, New York, October 30 through November 3, 2005. The conference will include recitals; scientific papers and workshops for acousticians, luthiers and composers; master classes; and demonstrations of instruments, bows, strings and music. Luthiers, composers, and musicians will be among those in attendance.
The Hutchins Consort is the only professional ensemble in the world performing on the eight scaled violins designed and built by famed luthier, Dr. Carleen Hutchins. The other octets built by Dr. Hutchins are in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and The Shrine to Music Museum, as well as museums in Stockholm and Edinburgh. The Hutchins Consort received a grant from the NEA to support funding for the tour.
